Hi Hari,

basically you need to download the pentaho metadata editor. With that you can define your business model which contains your db connection data, your business tables, your table relationships and your business views. In there you can also already define colors, fonts, number formats and other things for each data column if you want to. Then you export it as an XMI file. This file has to be named "metadata.xmi" and should go to one of the solution folders in your pentaho demo installation. Once that has been done you might still have to visit the admin page in the web interface and refresh the repository data and the metadata. Then the adhoc reporting will show you your business model in the list in the first step.

Any more questions? I just came across this site here randomly, browsing for all things BI related... but feel free to contact me via my website (http://osbi.gleichjetzt.de). Maybe some day I will translate my texts to english, too...

And to this sites owner: all the best on your quest, too :)

Cheers,

I have also installed Version: 1.6.0.GA.863 (GA). The demo works well. But I do not know how to proceed from there. I wish to generate an AD-Hoc report of my DataBase tables.
Could you please jot down the steps or give me the link to study?
